Municipal workers rally to have grievances heard

The workers were allowed to express their grievances to have them addressed.

The municipal workers of the West Rand along with the South African Municipal Workers Union (SAMWU) and other stakeholders gathered at the Greenhills Stadium recently to rally.

Justice Nkomo, regional chairperson for SAMWU explained the rally was aimed at giving the municipal workers a chance to air their grievances. The leaders were then able to address these issues and reassure the workers.

He noted the grievances range from personal protective equipment to workplace remuneration.

The MEC of the Department Of Co-operative Governance And Traditional Affairs, the MEC for the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture and the Executive Mayor of the Rand West City Local Municipality were also present.
