Vandalised substation leaves many residents without power
The vandalisation of the Westonaria Substation has led to a power outage as repairs are being conducted.
Due to the vandalisation of the Westonaria main intake substation, Eskom has deactivated it to conduct repairs in the control room.
According to a statement issued by Rand West City Local Municipality, a shortage of electricity supply occurred due to the Westonaria substation being vandalised.
This has affected areas such as Westonaria, Simunye, Borwa, Venterspos, Lucky Farms, Donaldson Dam and other surrounding areas.
Municipal spokesperson Phillip Montshiwa confirmed the incident and stated the duration of the outage is currently undetermined.
