Municipal spokesperson Phillip Montshiwa stated that the Municipality Infrastructure Department responded swiftly to address the issue on March 25.

According to Montshiwa, the pipe burst due to tree roots growing around the water pipe. Several households in the area were affected.

The team has been working tirelessly to repair the damage and restore water supply to the affected homes.

“This incident adds to a series of similar issues the department has been addressing across the city, including repairs in Toekomsrus and near the Rand West SPCA,” said Montshiwa.

He added that municipal manager Thabo Ndlovu and Executive Director of Infrastructure Sandile Mbanjwa were also on site to lead the team’s efforts.

“The municipality is prioritising these critical repairs to ensure minimal disruption and ensure that residents’ access to water is restored as soon as possible,” he concluded.
