Rand West City turns down the tap amid soaring demand
Get your water containers ready and expect low water pressure, as Rand West City Local Municipality enforces water restrictions to manage high demand.
Due to high water demand, Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM) has implemented water restrictions to conserve the supply.
This is according to municipal spokesperson Phillip Montshiwa, who noted the restrictions were implemented on August 4. The deadline for these restrictions is unknown at the moment; however, it will affect areas with a high consumption rate.
“Despite numerous efforts to reduce demands and act against illegal connections, water use remains high,” Montshiwa said.
The water restrictions will include the reduction of water pressure, especially overnight. He explained residents will experience little to no water supply during the restricted period.
He urged residents to adopt water-saving practices to help stabilise the network and reduce the need for further restrictions.
The Randfontein Herald has enquired about the specific areas that will be affected by these restrictions, whereafter Montshiwa stated he will revert.
