Vandalised substation leaves three Greenhills streets in the dark

Electricity is down in parts of Erasmus, Irma Steyn and Sydney Carter streets in Greenhills due to vandalism at a mini-substation.

Due to the vandalisation of a mini-substation in Greenhills, Ext 3, a power outage is currently affecting three streets.

This is according to Rand West City Local Municipality spokesperson Phillip Montshiwa, who confirmed the vandalism took place on August 20.

The affected areas include a portion of Erasmus, Irma Steyn and Sydney Carter streets.

“Our technical team is working to source a replacement mini-substation to restore electricity,” he concluded.
