Power down: Eskom switches off electricity across most of Rand West

Eskom switches off power across much of Rand West City today, September 17, as critical maintenance takes place at the Randfontein Industries Substation.

Residents are advised of a planned power outage by Eskom at the Randfontein Industries Substation today, September 17, from 08:00 to 17:00.

Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM) spokesperson Phillip Montshiwa confirmed the interruption is for critical maintenance work on the infrastructure, to be carried out by Eskom.

The areas affected by the outage includes Mogale Junction, Azaadville, Bongweni, areas of Greenhills near Greenhills stadium, parts of Homelake; from Cemetery Road to 10th Street, both Life Robinson Hospital and Lenmed Private Hospital, West Porges, Randfontein Police Station, Village Square Mall, Continental, Tiger Brands, James Park and parts of Randfontein from the roadhouse to Sixth Street and Robin Park.

He added that the water supply in Greenhills will also be affected during this time.

“The RWCLM apologises for the inconvenience caused and appreciates your patience and understanding while these essential maintenance activities are undertaken by Eskom,” Montshiwa concluded.
