Municipality disconnects water, electricity for outstanding bills

Rand West City Local Municipality has warned residents to settle outstanding accounts, as it prepares to disconnect services for non-payment.

Rand West City Local Municipality has launched Operation Patela and is cutting off services for residents who do not pay their bills.

Today, October 1, municipal workers made their routes across Randfontein, cutting off services.

According to municipal spokesperson Phillip Montshiwa, the endeavour began at local businesses in areas such as Culemborg Park, Eikepark and around Westcol.

This serves as a warning to other businesses and residents who have yet to make outstanding payments.

“We urge all residents across the city, including those in Bekkersdal, Mohlakeng, Westonaria, Randfontein and Toekomsrus to to pay for their services without delay,” he noted.

If residents have any queries about their accounts, Montshiwa advised them to visit the nearest customer service office. He alerted that this operation will commence throughout the festive season.
