Residents are warned of planned power interruptions

Rand West City Local Municipality warn residents and businesses of power interruptions due to maintenance to be carried out by Eskom.

The Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM) warned residents of planned power interruptions set to take place from today, October 28, to Thursday.

RWCLM spokesperson Phillip Montshiwa confirmed the interruptions will take place due to essential maintenance work carried out by Eskom at the Westergloor Substation.

He stated that Eskom informed the municipality that they need to repair an oil leak on one of their MVA transformers at the Westergloor substation. Repairs will take place until 16:00. The areas that will be affected include parts of Toekomsrus and Toekomsrus Ext 2.

On October 29, they will be repairing an oil leak on transformer number two, also at Westergloor Substation. The areas that will be affected include Pelzvale, Randfontein South and part of Westergloor.

“Areas and businesses in the affected areas are advised to make the necessary arrangements for the duration of the planned power interruptions. Note that power may be restored without prior notice, and all electrical appliances should therefore be treated as live at all times,” Montshiwa warned.

He concluded by apologising for the inconvenience and thanking residents for their patience and co-operation during the maintenance period.
