Crisis as Bekkersdal and Glenharvie run out of water

The Bekkersdal pressure towers and Glenharvie’s two reservoirs are currently empty, leaving certain areas in Westonaria dry.

The pressure towers in Bekkersdal and reservoirs in Glenharvie are empty, leaving certain areas without water.

According to Rand West City Local Municipality’s spokesperson, Phillip Montshiwa, he explained that Rand Water has imposed Level 2 water restrictions on the municipality, resulting in 0% water levels in the areas of Venterspos and Westonaria.

He added that many residents in these areas have been left without access to water, and to address this, the municipality has deployed water tanks.

• Westergloor reservoir 1, 2 and 3: 30%

• Westonaria reservoir 2: 58%
• Westonaria reservoir 3: 98%
• Greenhills reservoir 1: 75%
• Greenhills reservoir 2: 75%
• Waterpan reservoir: 88%
• Hillshaven reservoir: 95%
