Glenharvie residents protest for water

After 21 days without water, Glenharvie residents demand change with a second protest along the N12.

Residents of Glenharvie once again took to the streets today, October 21, to protest over the ongoing water outage.

According to resident Jeanette de Fortier, the community has been without water for 21 days. In a desperate plea to make their voices heard, residents gathered along the N12 with posters demanding water.

This marks their second protest, following an earlier demonstration on October 17 for the same cause.

De Fortier said the prolonged outage has made everyday tasks such as bathing, cooking and washing dishes impossible, adding that it also poses a health risk.

The Randfontein Herald has approached the Rand West City Local Municipality for comment. An update will be provided once a response is received.
