Rand West City water crisis: Critical shortages across many suburbs

Municipality confirms that Bekkersdal and Glenharvie reservoirs remain empty, while other Rand West City reservoirs are critically low.

Rand West City Local Municipality has provided an update on current reservoir water levels, confirming that Bekkersdal and Glenharvie remain empty.

According to the municipality’s spokesperson, Phillip Montshiwa, Rand Water has imposed Level 2 water restrictions on the area, leading to 0% water levels in Venterspos and Westonaria.

Current reservoir levels are as follows:

• Bekkersdal pressure towers: Empty
• Glenharvie reservoir 1 and 2: Empty
• Westergloor reservoir 1, 2, and 3: 30%
• Finsbury reservoir: 30%
• Westonaria reservoir 1: 40%
• Westonaria reservoir 2: 55%
• Westonaria reservoir 3: 60%
• Greenhills reservoir 1 and 2: 5%
• Waterpan reservoir: 30%
• Hillshaven reservoir: 35%
