Several Randfontein areas without power during scheduled maintenance

A scheduled power outage affecting several Randfontein areas is expected to continue until 16:00 today, with possible temporary disruptions to water supply and traffic signals.

Residents and businesses across several parts of Randfontein are experiencing a scheduled eight-hour power outage today, July 31, while maintenance work is carried out at the Industries Substation.

According to Rand West City Local Municipality spokesperson Phillip Montshiwa, the outage is expected to continue until about 16:00 and affects the Old Age Home, Robinpark, Azaadville Gardens, Bhongweni, West Porges, Robinson Hospital, Lenmed Hospital, and parts of Homelake and Greenhills.

The Greenhills water tower is also affected, which may result in temporary water supply disruptions in surrounding areas. Residents are urged to use water sparingly until supply is fully restored.

Montshiwa said the planned outage is necessary to allow for the connection of new cables at the substation.

Motorists are advised to treat all intersections with non-functioning traffic signals as four-way stops, while residents are urged to exercise caution for the duration of the outage.

The municipality apologised for the inconvenience and said every effort would be made to restore power as soon as the maintenance work has been completed.
