SA’s Deputy President visits Randfontein

Several streets had to be cordoned off during the Deputy President's visit, in line with safety protocols.

Numerous streets in the vicinity of the Rand West City civic centre were closed between 06:00 and 18:00 on August 19 for Deputy President Paul Mashatile’s visit.

Rand West City Local Municipality spokesperson Phillip Montshiwa said all went well on the day.

“The Deputy President was in town and all protocols had to be observed. The purpose of his visit was to engage with locals and encourage them to vote ahead of next year’s general elections regardless of the political party they may be affiliated with,” said Montshiwa.

Numerous streets were closed off for the visit with the Minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga also in attendance.
