Windows rattled as tremor hits the West Rand

A provisional 3.2-magnitude tremor was recorded near Krugersdorp – said Gauteng Weather.

Parts of the West Rand were unexpectedly awakened on Wednesday evening, at about 21:22 by rattling that was felt in various areas.

According to a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) by Gauteng Weather, a provisional 3.2-magnitude tremor was recorded near Krugersdorp at 21:24 on Wednesday, August 30.

Numerous Facebook posts mentioned that the tremor was felt in areas such as Witpoortjie, Roodepoort, Honeydew, and even as far as Randfontein and Discovery.

Many described it as an airplane flying past very low, or a train moving fast causing windows to rattle.
