Cows euthanised after reportedly being hit by car

The local SPCA decided to euthanise two cows as a result of the severe injuries they sustained.

Two cows had to be humanely euthanised due to their severe injuries sustained after being hit reportedly by an unknown vehicle on the R41 in Uitvalfontein recently.

This is according to RandWest SPCA inspector Rene van Straten who said she was travelling on that road when she came across the scene.

“I was coming from another case. We have no idea what exactly transpired but it is alleged a car hit them. On our arrival, a towing company had already taken the car away involved in the accident. We then made contact with the police and made the decision to euthanise the animals per the provisions of the Animal Protection Act,” Van Straten said.

She added they then moved the cows out of the way to prevent the obstruction of traffic. They were then taken away.
