Help the Toekies CPF fight crime

The Community Policing Forum (CPF) is asking the community to reach out and help them make a difference in the community.

The Toekomsrus CPF is on a mission to fight crime, but they cannot do it alone.

Deputy chairperson of the Toekies CPF Edwin Pakati explained all their members are currently unemployed and instead of sitting around at home, they are trying to make a difference in the community by keeping it safe.

“Some members are finishing their studies while others have families to take care of, however, we are offering our time which is in the best interest of the community.”

According to Edwin, “We want to be the eyes and ears of the police, but we need the community’s help.”

He continued to say they have built trust with the community over the years. They also have regular stop and search operations which have yielded good results in the past. In addition, they go on call-outs and do patrols both day and night, all out of their own pockets.

The Toekomsrus CPF is ready to protect their community.

Edwin has since asked the community to help with equipment such as reflector vests, or even someone who can help print T-shirts with the CPF logo on so they can be easily identified and bring some sense of unity. Furthermore, the CPF needs flashlights, two-way radios as well as fuel for their vehicles.

The Toekies CPF is at the police station daily until 16:00. They have also since joined hands with the Mohlakeng CPF. In addition, they aim to assist the local police during big operations.

“The CPF can make a big difference in the community,” said Warrant Officer Nicholas Otto.

Edwin concluded, “With the help of the community, I believe we can curb crime. We know how to work with people and how to stay calm. We won’t be able to keep everyone happy, but we still treat people with respect. We don’t want to make enemies but simply assist in keeping everyone safe. We hope people will reach out and support our endeavor.”

Any person who wants to contribute can drop off donations at the Toekomsrus Police Station and/ or contact Edwin on 083 693 3488 as well as the chairperson Rodney Kock on 083 304 3048.
