Imbizo showcases music talent, creates crime awareness

Talent was on display to create awareness about crime in the community during a big musical event held in Westonaria.

Numerous musicians performed at the musical event, Imbizo, held in Westonaria recently.

“The event went very well and there were even refreshments,” said local artist Fish’odlamanzi, who was also the host.

The day opened with a number by the artist who performed Lapha erenkeni kwenzenjani? He explained the song is about killings in the taxi rank.

Along with Fish’odlamanzi other musical talents such as Sihlangu Semfene, Khaladi Elimhlophe, Phuzemngeni and Glen Vista performed. Mayor Mkhuseli Jokazi was also in attendance along with the sponsor Chwayithekile Mvubu.

There was also a family fun walk and even local entrepreneurs visited.

The mayor noted the inspiration for the event was to get the community together to fight crime and unite the youth to create awareness of drug abuse, theft, break-ins and human trafficking in the area.

“Next time we aim to improve on the event, as people were responding well to this initiative,” Fish’odlamanzi said.
