Inspiring youngsters talk the talk and walk the walk
Local artist Morena Mothoana, shows upcoming artists that it is possible to achieve your goals.
Morena Mothoana, better known as Swanky Says, excels in various art styles and even registered his own record label to help those alike get a chance to showcase their talents.
Morena (28) is a local music producer, songwriter, choreographer, model and actor. His dancing career started in 2006 where after he decided to follow the art of music in 2014.
“I grew up in a family that loves music and fashion,” he claimed proudly.
Morena participated in the Dance World Cup while also securing an acting role along with Nomcebo Zikode and Angélique Kidjo not to mention featuring in James BKSs music video Best We Can.
One of his biggest inspirations is the late South African singer and rapper, Riky Rick.
Morena dreams of creating a gap for West Rand artists so that they can showcase their talents in the industry.
“I registered a record label to give the young and hungry a platform to do something they love so that they do not fall into substance abuse. Something like a community record label which is going to need funding from anyone who can support,” he expressed.
“I would like to say that there are plenty of options for young and energetic pupils who grew up in an unfortunate household. They should focus on their talents and try to excel in a career using their talents. It’s also important they succeed in school so that if they have accomplished what they need to, they know they can create a job with their talents as well. If I could do it, nothing is stopping them from doing better than me,” he concluded.
