Nazarene congregation celebrates 50 years
After 50 years of existence, the congregation of the Church of the Nazarene decided to host a jubilee.
The Church of the Nazarene has celebrated 50 years of charitable and remarkable milestones and aims to help even more residents.
According to Eunice Sediti, the church’s pastor, the church has been playing a central role in the community by providing spiritual guidance, emotional support and a sense of belonging.

The church started in a school classroom and continued in a car garage for 35 years. Only five years ago did members buy a building that is now used for worship.

Not only does the church provide moral and ethical guidance, but it also stands as a hub for social support through programmes like food banks, counselling and outreach initiatives. Furthermore, she emphasised it fosters community cohesion by bringing people together, preserving traditions, and advocating for social justice.

One of the church’s key charities is the annual Vacation Bible School (VBS) where volunteers come together to serve and feed 400 children for an entire week.
“This programme provides not only spiritual education and fun activities but also ensures that every child receives a healthy meal each day. The VBS is a significant outreach effort, helping to meet both the physical and emotional needs of children in the community while fostering a sense of care and support for families,” Eunice expressed.

The church also hosts an event annually to feed the elderly and also has Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meetings every evening at the church around 18:00 to give support to drug addicts.
To celebrate the church’s 50 years of existence, pastor Saul Sedith and Rev Edwin Vanzeeberg, who recently passed away, held a jubilee.
