Thank you, God, for Pam – priest says at Carryou founder’s funeral

The funeral of well-loved Pamela Jamison was held recently to bid final goodbyes.

People inspired by the late Carryou Ministries founder, Pamela Jamison (83), arrived in large numbers at the St John Divine Anglican Church to pay their final respects.

Pamela passed away on January 18 in the hospital due to natural causes. She leaves behind her husband, daughter, son, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a whole community who will cherish her forever.

The service, held on February 4, started with hymns to which many in attendance sang wholeheartedly. Thereafter, incense was used to cleanse the church. The priest, Jabulani Miya, continued with a sermon to glorify the life that Pamela lived.

“Little did I know that I would be a priest to bury Pam one day. Thank you, God, for Pam. Thank you for your selflessness and commitment. Thank you, Lord God, for the love Pam has shown and shared with us. If we could only have more and more Pams in this world, this life would be a better place to live in.

“Go well. Well done. You are a good and faithful servant. You are already sorely missed, but you remain forever in our hearts. You have run a good race in front of us. Your footprints will remain in our hearts. You have kept the faith through all the changing scenes of life. You have finished the course. You don’t owe us anything. Thank you, Pam. Sleep well. Good night,” he said.

Pam Jamison was honoured by the West Rand District Municipality’s Executive Mayor, Mpho Nawa, in 2014.

One of the workers at Carryou also spoke.

“I remember years back when Pam recruited me. I knew her as a person who really loved the Lord. She was such a wonderful person, and I will never forget when she had problems, and we would pray together about them. She played a great role in my life,” the worker said.

Since Pamela was a professional nurse, the church invited other professional nurses during the tributes to say the pledge.
