Cast Aways pleads for urgent pet food donations

After taking in many new rescues needing medical care and proper nutrition, Cast Aways Animal Sanctuary is desperately appealing for food donations for their animals.

Cast Aways Animal Sanctuary is appealing to the community for food donations to support the animals in their care.

Louisa Rossouw, founder of the sanctuary, stated they are running low on both dog and cat pellets and soft food.

She explained they recently took in a female dog with four puppies that were found dumped in Loumarina. The mommy dog was already pregnant again and gave birth to 10 puppies. Luckily, they are all doing well.

They also found two kittens that were three weeks old. One was found in a burning field and the other at a train station. After intensive treatment, both of them are also doing well. Aside from the two kittens, there is also a mommy cat with two kittens and a feral cat who gave birth to four kittens. Unfortunately, one of the kittens died after being removed from her mom and left alone.

“All these animals had to be given nutritious food and medical care. Our funds are depleted, and we urgently ask for donations of food for our animals,” Louisa pleaded.

Donations can be dropped off at the sanctuary at 26 Johanna Street, Wilbotsdal or at Homestead Veterinary Hospital.
