Community unites for coloured lives

Toekomsrus residents took to the streets to stand up for the right of all coloured people to live safely.

A few residents recently held a peaceful demonstration under the banner #ColouredLivesMatter.

According to Cassiday Rangata-Jacobs, advisor to the MMC for Health and Social Development, residents gathered on December 1 to advocate for the protection and recognition of coloured lives.

The police and Rand West Community Safety escorted them.

The MMC for Health and Social Development, councillor Una Dickson, was also in attendance. Rangata-Jacobs added that this was one of several similar demonstrations taking place nationwide.

She further stated that they also visited the family of a victim who was recently found stabbed to death.
