WATCH: From pain to hope – Magic’s Story
Magic’s story took a hopeful turn after No More Tears Animal Rescue saved her, despite her severe injuries.
No More Tears Animal Rescue (NMT) found Magic in Glenharvie with only two functional legs and set out to give her a new chance at life.
Volunteer Clarisse Kruger explained that the organisation was first alerted about a dog in urgent need of help. Shortly afterwards, they received more than 20 similar alerts. A resident eventually lured Magic, whereafter she was calm enough to be picked up and taken to safety.
“Despite the unimaginable pain, Magic still tried to run,” Clarisse said. She added that Magic must have been living in this condition for quite some time.
Magic was rushed to Randfontein Animal Hospital, where she received immediate treatment.
In a video shared on NMT’s Facebook page, Magic appeared to have only one hind leg and a broken front leg.
“What gives us comfort is knowing she is in the best possible hands. If there is any chance to help her, Dr Johan Naudé will do everything he can,” she said.
Magic’s hind leg, which was severely damaged, was medically amputated and is now healing well.
Although Magic has a second chance at life, the organisation faces challenges with funding.
“If you can help with Magic’s vet bill, it would mean the world to us, and to her,” Clarisse said.
All donations go directly to her veterinary care.
“She reminds us that hope can have three paws, that healing is possible, and that sometimes the real magic is a second chance at life,” Clarisse added.
