RHS’ cheerleading team is all-stars

With a Diamond award at the RACA Eisteddfod the RHS cheerleading team is heading for success.

Randfontein High School’s All-Star Cheerleading Team is back and here to stay.

School spokesperson Rodney Prins explained they took a break from cheerleading for a while but came back with a bang, performing at the RACA Eisteddfod recently.

He continued at first the team consisted of all girls. In 2007 they first participated in the cheerleading competition at the Randfontein Show. It all started as a fun activity and eventually, it grew and became more serious.

We just loved performing and we were the first school to introduce hip hop into it as well and we had a cheer in the middle of performing,” Rodney said.

Currently, there are 30 learners on the team. They recently competed at the RACA Eisteddfod and achieved a diamond award.

Next, they participated in the Roodepoort Dance Festival on September 13. This was their first time participating and they placed first with the highest percentage.

On September 14 they participated in Clash of the Titans, also for the first time, where they were named as the winners and received second place in the adult section.

“The All-Stars are an amazing group, they are dedicated and work hard.”
