Celebrating heritage at church

Randfontein High School learners celebrate their heritage at church.

Religion is part of one’s culture and an integral part of communities.

This was evident when numerous learners were spotted wearing an array of traditional attire at the St Paul Anglican Church in Mohlakeng recently.

Tebogo Lethoko and Lesego Motsa from Randfontein High School (RHS) were dressed in traditional Xhosa and Setswana outfits.

Lesego also warmed up the congregation with pure Setswana poetry, eliciting ululations and praises.

“This does show that even we, the youth, do embrace the culture and our heritage at large,” added Tebogo, who is an artist with the school band.

She can cross from saxophone to violin with great gusto.

“We are both artists in our own right. I’m more into music, while Lesego is a dedicated poet,” he concluded.
