Shining role models: Westgold girls lead the way in cricket
Westgold Primary is proud to support the talent and passion its girls' cricket team emanates.
Westgold Primary School shone a spotlight on its girls’ cricket team to highlight how sport can unite young people.
According to school spokesperson Mariska du Plessis, the team is made up of learners from various age groups who united to share a similar goal – playing the game they love with full commitment.
“Even though the girls differ in age, they work together flawlessly to prove their teamwork and resilience every time they step onto the pitch. Whether they are bowling, batting or fielding, their passion for cricket is undeniable,” Mariska said proudly.
She added that behind their growing success and strong team spirit are three dedicated coaches who guide the learners.
Coaches Chantelee van Wyk and Michelle Van der Merwe ensure a broad set of cricket knowledge during every practice.
Organiser and coach Nadine Marais also played a huge role in the dynamic team, guaranteeing support and inclusion within the group.
“The team is a shining example of how sport can bring young people together, build confidence and create lifelong memories; all while looking great on the field,” Mariska concluded.
