Viva Mexico! Toekomsrus learners bring G20 to life
Toekomsrus Primary turned their G20 Summit celebration into a vibrant Mexican fiesta with music, dance, food and culture.
Toekomsrus Primary School recently participated in the international G20 Summit symbolically by representing the country of Mexico.
Since the school had a 100% participation rate in the Sports, Youth and Culture Department initiatives, they were selected from all of the Gauteng West schools to be a part of the G20 Summit programme.

According to principal Naomi Kiewitz, the school already participated in the provincial G20 Festival held in Soweto on September 19.
Naomi added on September 26, the school hosted its own G20 Festival celebration, which was attended by the school governing body, School Management Teams and district officials.

She further explained that on this day, the learners proudly represented the North American country through various performances, including singing Mexico’s national anthem.
“The learners also performed traditional Mexican dances and delivered speeches,” she said.
To further showcase Mexican heritage, Naomi said traditional dishes were served while teachers presented Mexican-inspired cuisine.
