RHS yoke-pin players take their talents far

With qualifications for both provincial and national competitions, Randfontein High School’s yoke-pin stars are headed for new heights.

Randfontein High School’s yoke-pin (Jukskei) players have reached impressive new heights, with several qualifying for both provincial and national competitions.

Coach Rethabile Lusie said he believes the players performed exceptionally well and is thrilled with how far they’ve come since being introduced to the sport.

“Our school, being one of the few English-speaking schools and playing at this level, is amazing.”

Mamello Dimo, Athandiwe Dubuzana and Zwelihle Mlambo qualified for the Bondedag Provincial competition and the SA Junior Championships.

Busisiwe Mthembu qualified for both the Bondedag Provincial competition and the SA Junior Championships, as well as the Indigenous Games, together with Mikelani Mkhwandzi, Khanyisile Mthembu, Takudzwa Machapu and Okuhle Sisilana.

Onkabetse Tsheole also qualified for Bondedag and the Indigenous Games, while Keamogetswe Matloga, Oratile Merementsi, Obadiah Mmbadi and Bogosi Mogapi qualified for the SA Junior Championships.

Masimthembe Khumalo qualified for the Junior and Senior Bondedag Provincial competition, as well as the SA Junior and Senior Championships.

Speaking about the achievements, coach Tadiwa Machapu added, “I am incredibly proud of my players for their outstanding performance and dedication throughout the season.

“To see how far they’ve come is truly inspiring. Their hard work, resilience, and teamwork have paid off in the best possible way. This achievement is a remarkable milestone. It reflects not only their talent but also their determination to keep growing and representing our school with pride.”

Team manager Lekin Faddy concluded by congratulating the players on their accomplishments and thanked the coaches for their dedication.
