Westonaria set to host matric awards for West Rand’s top achievers

Top West Rand matriculants will be honoured in Westonaria with awards, laptops, trophies and prize money for their outstanding 2025 results.

The West Rand District Municipality (WRDM) will host a Top Achievers Awards ceremony to honour the top-performing 2025 matriculants from the district.

The event will be held at the Westonaria Banquet Hall on February 6.

Chief of staff for the WRDM, Ntibi Modise, confirmed the awards will include trophies, laptops and prize money, dependent on the learner categories.

Gauteng West District director Vusimuzi Rajuile and Executive Mayor of the WRDM, Alderman Dennis Thabe, will be honouring the former learners.

The ceremony comes after the Johannesburg West District topped the 2025 matric results with a 96.20% pass rate, marking its third consecutive year as the top-performing district. Overall, the Class of 2025 achieved a national pass rate of 88%.

“Schools, learners and teachers will continue to receive support from the WRDM in the coming years,” Ntibi concluded.
