SoccaKidz makes welcome return after six months

The number of players has declined significantly with only 10 per cent returning.

Management of SoccaKidz Clinic said after six months of being closed, they were happy to announce that action was finally back!

Anton Meerkotter, coach and founder of the organisation said because they had to comply with all lockdown regulations, they have been hit hard.

“We been closed since March. We only opened in October; nonetheless we are very excited to finally be back,” Anton said.

He added that the number of players has declined significantly with only 10 per cent returning. He attributed this to parents still being apprehensive about sending their children to training during the ongoing pandemic.

“We would like people to know that we are taking all necessary precautions in our sessions by making sure that we screen players’ temperatures and sanitize their hands.

“Masks are only removed when a person has been screened to get onto the pitch,” Anton said.

He went on to say he was concerned about how the long break had affected the players’ development, especially the young ones.

“It’s is better that we are allowed to train, and we might have some friendly matches. Because we can’t have crowds, we are still limited as to what we can do. For now we are happy to be in action,” Anton added.
