As an asthma sufferer, she hasn't relied on her medication for a year and she attributed this to the healthier lifestyle

Having been unhappy with her appearance, Lucinda Broodryk turned to fitness.

With time the 39-year-old dropped three dress sizes, gained muscle and a whole lot of confidence.

She said she puts her body through a series of challenges and exercises five days a week, to one day achieve that physique she has always dreamt of.

Lucinda explained to the Herald, “I do functional fitness which a combination of CrossFit (strength and endurance), calisthenics (bodyweight exercises) as well as cardio”.

Lucinda explained that functional fitness is a combination of strength training, endurance and fitness, therefore it’s critical in the beginning to get your form and posture right – and build from there.

She said she loves working out and considers it a fun activity and new lifestyle. She recommended that everyone, especially women, give it (fitness) a go.

“It is very beneficial. By staying fit and in shape, we enable ourselves to be the best version of ourselves. It is also healthy,” she said.

She explained as asthma sufferer, she hasn’t relied on her medication for a year and she attributed this to the healthier lifestyle.

“It also helps my mental strength and am I have more confidence than ever before. Working out is an incredible journey, it transform you not just on the outside but inside as well. Give it a shot,” Lucinda concluded.
