This prestigious event saw more than 40 dedicated students push themselves through a rigorous seven-hour assessment, demonstrating discipline, technique and mental strength.
Coach Enzo Pillay explained that the grading was followed by a strict syllabus, ensuring that each participant met the high standards expected at each level.
Chief grader Shihan Kruben Pillay led the event and commented on the students’ dedication and progress.
“All the students are progressing extremely well under the guidance of their local instructors. I would love to see more events like this hosted in the West Rand district. Karate is a sport that brings immense value to communities.
It keeps our youth and women, the most vulnerable groups in society, safe and away from the dangers of drugs, alcohol, and other harmful influences,” said Shihan.
Enzo further stated that beyond self-defence, karate offers a wide range of benefits, including improved physical fitness, discipline, confidence, respect, and focus. He added it encourages a healthy lifestyle and instils values that extend beyond the dojo into daily life.
