Spartans karatekas impressed at provincials in Pretoria bagging 33 medals in total.
Spartans Karate fought their way to the top at the recent Gauteng Provincial Championships held in Pretoria.
According to sensei Enzo Pillay, the competition saw the province’s top karatekas battle it out for medals in both Kata (forms) and Kumite (fighting).
The Spartans Karate team brought home a total of 33 medals – 10 gold, eight silver and 15 bronze.
Enzo added this solidified their position as one of the premier dojos in the province.
“The club has earned a reputation for excellence and dedication. In addition to our impressive medal haul, Spartans Karate is deeply committed to the community. The dojo offers a safe and supportive environment where local youth can develop discipline, focus, and confidence while also learning essential life skills.
“Many young members have found a positive outlet through karate, with the dojo playing a vital role in keeping kids off the street, improving concentration, and fostering a sense of pride and achievement,” he explained.
The team is currently preparing for other challenges ahead.
“With a track record of exceptional performances and a steadfast commitment to community and youth development, Spartans Karate is well on its way to continuing its legacy of success both locally and internationally,” he concluded.
