Historic win for Modderfontein’s young rugby stars

This year’s rugby season will go down in Laerskool Modderfontein Primary School’s history books after the U8 rugby team stormed to victory in their first tournament.

Laerskool Modderfontein Primary School has made big strides this rugby season, as their U8 rugby team was crowned champions in their first-ever tournament.

Under the guidance of coach Lihika Ndlovu, commonly known as Coach Tjoepii, the young Moddies showed grit and determination during the tournament hosted at Laerskool Losberg Primary School.

They kicked off their campaign with a strong 20–5 victory over Glenharvie Primary School, followed by a dominant 25–0 win against Curro Primary School. Their toughest challenge came against Westgold Primary, but the Moddies tackled the game with confidence and sealed a 10–0 victory to claim the championship title.

Coach Tjoepii, a proud former Moddies learner and former head boy, said he was honoured to become the school’s first coach to lead an U8 team to championship glory in his debut coaching year.
