Dominant first team performance leads Teine past Raiders

Randfontein Rugby Club impressed in a GLRU Grand Challenge league fixture against Raiders, highlighted by a dominant 59–19 win from the first team.

Randfontein Rugby Club took on Raiders Rugby Club in the Golden Lions Rugby Union (GLRU) Grand Challenge this past Saturday, April 18 in a full slate of fixtures, producing a mix of impressive victories and tough defeats across the different age groups and teams.

The U19 side got the day off to a strong start, securing a hard-fought 34–26 victory in an entertaining clash that highlighted their attacking ability and resilience under pressure.

However, the U21 team faced a difficult outing, going down 45–0 against a dominant Raiders outfit. The third team also came up short despite a spirited effort, narrowly losing 24–19 in a closely contested match.

The momentum shifted back in Randfontein’s favour with a solid performance from the second team, who kept their opponents scoreless in a convincing 24–0 win.

The highlight of the day came from the first team, who delivered a powerful display to defeat Raiders 59–19. Leading the charge was Bennie Beyleveld, who was named Man of the Match after an outstanding performance that included two well-taken tries.

While the results were mixed, the day ultimately reflected the depth and fighting spirit within the Randfontein Rugby Club ranks, with standout performances giving supporters plenty to celebrate.
