The team played three matches against Harlequins, Pirates, and Union; however, scores are unavailable as the focus was on developing talent and potentially sparking future Springbok dreams.

Rika Rabé, spokesperson for the club, said: “We really appreciated the time and effort of the coaches and team manager who managed the teams on the day. Thank you to Laerskool Rapportryer for their support and the coaches for making it happen on the day. We would like to thank the GLRU for the opportunity for the kids to participate in the curtain-raiser at Ellis Park Stadium.”

Schalk Rabé, chairperson of Randfontein Rugby Youth Club, also thanked the players and their parents for their support and extended a special mention and thank you to vice-chairperson Marius Kamffer for all his arrangements.

For the Randfontein U8 squad, the day at Ellis Park will undoubtedly remain a cherished memory, which could very well spark dreams of returning to the same field as future stars of the game.
