Rand West Darts hits the bullseye with double silver at nationals
Rand West Darts made its mark at the national championships, with both the men’s and women's teams securing silver medals and earning promotion to a higher section for the next cycle.
The Rand West Darts Association (RWDA) proudly represented Randfontein at the Darts South Africa National Championships held in Bellville, Cape Town.
The tournament, which took place from July 12 to 19, saw both the men’s and women’s teams showcase exceptional skill, determination and competitive spirit.
The opening two days of the competition were dedicated to the District Games. During this stage, both teams delivered strong performances, with each team securing third place in their respective sections and laying a solid foundation for the remainder of the championship.

From July 14 to 19, the competition intensified as teams progressed to the national fixtures. The Rand West teams rose to the challenge, producing impressive performances against strong opposition from across the country.
Their consistency and determination paid off, with the teams finishing second in their respective sections.
These results not only highlight the growing strength of darts in the Rand West region but also represent a significant achievement for the association. As a reward for their efforts, the teams have earned a promotion and will compete in a higher section during the next championship cycle.

Association secretary Sophia Britz said they are extremely proud of their players and the dedication they showed throughout the tournament.
“Their achievements reflect the growth and commitment within our association,” she said.
Britz added that the association’s performance at this year’s national championships is a testament to the dedication of both the players and management.
“It also sets a promising tone for the continued growth of darts in the Rand West region and future competitions,” she concluded.
