Teine hold their nerve in 95-point thriller

Teine’s Gold Cup journey continues after a dramatic away victory sets up a quarter-final showdown with defending champions Naka Bulle.

Randfontein Rugby Club’s first team booked their place in the Gold Cup quarter-finals after edging Vereeniging Rugby Club 48–47 in a thrilling one-point away win on Saturday, October 3.

Teine produced a determined attacking performance, scoring six tries, but had to withstand a strong fightback from Vereeniging as the match went down to the wire.

Captain and flyhalf Keagan Fortune was instrumental in the victory, contributing 18 points with an impressive display from the kicking tee. Fortune successfully converted all six of Teine’s tries and added two penalties to his tally.

Number eight Louis Smit crossed the try line, while Bennie Beyleveld, Tristan Da Costa and Morne Piater also scored for Randfontein. Renaldo Visser was particularly influential in attack, scoring twice to help Teine build their winning total.

With just a single point separating the sides at the final whistle, every score proved crucial as Teine held on to secure another appearance in the latter stages of the Gold Cup.
