Kgosietsile’s journey in the arts began when he was a child. After spending time with his grandmother, who used to knit and sew clothing by hand, she eventually taught him how to crochet.
Even though I did not quite enjoy that, I was inspired by the fact that I could create my own pieces and wear uniquely-made outfits which I take with me to this day,” he explained.
Around 2002, Kgosietsile picked up the pencil to sketch and design his own clothing. He later decided to go to college and study full-time. He has formal training from South West Gauteng College, where he also received his diploma in Fashion Production and Manufacturing. He eventually completed his studies at Central Johannesburg College.
“The love for clothing, colours, fabric, creation and freedom of expression is what fueled me to pursue this career. Nothing brings me more joy than the process of creation. Art is life and it’s the centerpiece of my soul,” Kgotsietsile said.

His biggest inspiration was his grandmother, although he also looks up to Karl Lagerfeld. His first memory of fashion was when his aunt took him to a summer festival. He explained that the colours and designs from the festival still play a big role in his creativity today.
Today, he is the founder of Bogosi Clothing and with this brand, he hopes to convey the message of being yourself while being regal. Kgosietsile mentioned he prefers a “relaxed royalty” style. He explained it is all about being regal with a slight sense of looking casual. He picks fabric according to texture, the design of the weave and the finish. He emphasised that the colours need to be bold and bright.

One of the pieces which he is most proud of is his streetwear jackets. However, he said his opinion of his favourite piece might change by lunchtime.
“The most memorable moments have to be seeing joy and happiness on clients’ faces once they wear my pieces and it’s everything they ever wanted and more. Those moments are worth everything and it is an unmatched feeling.
I’ve dressed a couple of celebrities and it felt good. But dressing anyone who shows joy and excitement over the garment is just a priceless feeling, regardless of whether the person is famous or not,” Kgosietsile concluded.
He will be showcasing his best work at the Rand West Fashion Festival on June 27 to 28 at the Greenhills Stadium.
