Thandi’s drawing talent earns Eisteddfod first place
What started with a pencil and a moment of boredom has blossomed into a passion that earned Thandi top honours at the Eisteddfod.
Grade Seven learner Thandi Gwala from Kardia House International in Randfontein impressed with her artistic talent after winning first place in her category at the Segarona Arts and Culture Eisteddfod earlier in August.
Thandi said her passion for drawing began when she was younger, after she picked up a pencil out of boredom and started sketching. Her interest in art grew after she began watching other artists draw online, which inspired her to continue developing her skills.
Although she was confident enough to enter the competition with her artwork, Thandi said she was surprised when she was announced as the winner.
“I was honestly quite surprised that I won,” she said.
For Thandi, what started as a way to pass the time has grown into a creative passion and an achievement to be proud of.
