NEWSFLASH: N4 highway closed following Pretoria cash-in-transit heist
A cash-in-transit heist on the N4 highway between Rossouw Street and Simon Vermooten Road led to the highway being closed on Wednesday morning.

Rekord received reports of gunfire on the highway around 09:30. When we arrived on the scene, a burning sedan vehicle and an overturned bakkie could be seen on the highway.

Both lanes of the N4 had been closed.
The cash-in-transit vehicle could also be seen with both sides open.
According to an Emer-G-Med statement, four security officers sustained moderate injuries during the heist.
“Emer-G-Med paramedics responded to the scene near Simon Vermooten Road to find absolute chaos,” the statement read.
“Multiple security vehicles were strewn across the highway with suspects having blown up the cash van.
“The four security officers sustained moderate injuries and were treated and stabilised on the scene before being taken to a nearby hospital for further care.”
There were no fatalities reported.

Details surrounding the incident were limited at this stage but Brinant Security was able to confirm that they were on the scene following the heist.
It was also unclear whether anyone had been hurt during the heist.
Police and emergency services were also still on the scene, busy extinguishing the fire.
Police had yet to comment by our time of publication.
