Dangerous night on Pretoria roads

No fatalities were reported.

Dozens of accidents plagued Pretoria roads on Friday and Saturday night.

Best Care spokesperson Xander Loubser highlighted some of the accidents that Best Care responded to.

He said a car rolled on Mabopane highway in Soshanguve at 19:00.The male driver only suffered minor injuries. “The cause of the accident is unknown,” said Loubser.

Two vehicles collided in Bremer Street near Mabopabe highway at 20:00. Loubser said another accident took place at the same intersection exactly an hour later. Only minor injuries were reported in both accidents, he said.

An accident between two cars and a taxi occurred on the corner of Van der Hoff Road and Theo Slabbert Avenue at 21:15. The taxi driver as well as the occupants of one of the vehicles, a woman and two children, only sustained minor injuries. The driver of the other car was seriously injured.

An accident at Wonderboom junction at 24:00 left a mother and child with minor injuries. Loubser said they were both taken to Eugene Marais hospital. He said the cause of the accident was unknown.

Loubser said the most serious accident occurred around 01:00 on Saturday when a truck and car collided in Montana. A man, woman, two children and an elderly man were all in the car during the collision.

“The elderly man is in a serious condition. His upper leg is broken in a few places,” said Loubser. He said the woman also sustained serious injuries, while the other occupants sustained minor injuries.

“The cause of the accident is not known,” he said.

Loubser said five people sustained minor injuries during an accident on the corner of Church Street and DF Malan Drive at 02:00.

He said the final accident that was reported to Best Care took place at 03.00 on Sefako Makgatho Drive. One person sustained minor injuries.
