NEWSFLASH: Suspected murderer caught trying to flee Atteridgeville

The man and his victim were seen arguing and fighting before the victim died from the stabbing.

A man who allegedly stabbed and killed another man on Sunday morning was arrested while trying to flee the Atteridgeville area.

The 25-year-old had reportedly been soliciting money from his cousin, according to police spokesperson Mapula Rikhotso.

“The man is accused of a Schubert Park hostels stabbing,” Rikhotso said.

“The two were seen arguing and fighting before the victim was stabbed.”

Atteridgeville detectives, led by Sergeant Lebohang Monareng, apprehended the man.

“He was arrested while trying to get money to go back home to the Eastern Cape.”

Station commander Brigadier Abraham Mbangwa Nkhwashu applauded the swift arrest and meticulous manner in which the investigation was conducted.

“Police’s continued work with the community was key in ensuring the suspect was arrested immediately.”
