Tremor in Pretoria heard, felt
Residents, mostly in the east of Pretoria, reported feeling a tremor and hearing a loud sound like thunder.

On Tuesday afternoon residents were abuzz about a tremor and loud sound heard in suburbs east of Pretoria.
According to social media users, windows rattled in Elarduspark and a small quake was felt in the Lynnwood area.
Other residents in Moreletapark, Waterkloofrif, Villieria, and more suburbs throughout Pretoria described a loud sound “like thunder”.
According to the website: Volcano Discovery (www.volcanodiscovery.com) this was due to an earthquake.
The earthquake or seismic-like event was reported 10 km southeast of Pretoria, at 15:27.
“Our monitoring service AllQuakes received reports of shaking caused by a seismic-like event, possibly an earthquake, in or near Pretoria (Gauteng) at around 15:27 GMT,” a statement on the webpage read.
“Unless confirmed by at least one national or international seismological agency, its status as possible earthquake remains unconfirmed.
This may or may not turn out to be an actual naturally occurring quake.”

The Council for Geoscience had not updated their “seismic events” reports, before going to press, to confirm the earthquake.
