On Saturday, Mamelodi East residents participated in a Fun Run and Fun Walk fundraising event to support a young woman’s journey toward participating in Miss Mzansi 2026.

Chantel Kulani Sithole, who comes from Mamelodi East Ext 6, described herself as a young woman with vision, determination and a strong desire to inspire others.

She is pursuing her dream of participating in the Miss Mzansi Beauty Pageant, scheduled for December 5.

Knowing that a dream requires more than ambition, Sithole reached out to her neighbours, community members of Ext 6, Tsalanang NPO, Janco Dancers and Moses Mabhida Foundation.

One of the organisers, Tshepo Ramontja, said the Fun Run and Fun Walk events were not simply sporting activities; they represented hope, determination, community spirit and the pursuit of a dream.

The fundraising event also helped secure sponsorships, votes, subscribers, followers, a pageant dress, and other necessary expenses.

He said every contribution mattered.

“Whether it is a donation, a vote, a new follower, a subscriber, sponsorship or simply words of encouragement, each form of support brings Chantel one step closer to her goal,” he said.

Sithole’s journey has become more than an individual dream – it has become a journey shared with the community.

She added that the event was also about inspiring young girls from Mamelodi and Region 6.

Growing up in Mamelodi, she understood that many young people have dreams but may not always have the resources, opportunities or support to pursue them.

“Through my participation in the Miss Mzansi Beauty Pageant, I want to send a powerful message to young girls in Mamelodi.

“If you put your mind on your goal, everything is possible,” she added.

Her story encourages young women to believe in themselves, identify their talents, set goals and work hard towards achieving them.

She wants girls to know that their background does not have to limit their future.

“No matter which house or circumstances you come from, it does not define who you are or how far you can go.”

She added that a dream can start in a neighbourhood, on a community street, at a local event or with a small group of people who believe in you.

“Keep believing in yourself. Keep working towards your goal. Keep inspiring other young people.

Your journey can become a source of hope for many young girls who may be wondering whether their dreams are possible.”
