A ceremony to honour those who died while in the service of the Tshwane metro police was held on Wednesday.
The wreath laying ceremony and prayer day was held at the Tshwane metro police headquarters at Memorial hall, Pretoria West.
The day, organised by the Tshwane metro, was held to honour the values and essential work performed by the men and women in uniform.
Among the guests were MMC for community safety Derrick Kissoonduth and metro police acting chief Jenny Malan.
“Thanks to the family members for allowing their members to serve the community,” said Malan.

Kisoonduth thanked all the men and women in uniform for their efforts for heeding the call to celebrate the lives of their fallen brothers and sisters.
“The men being honoured today served with distinction,” said Kissonduth.
“We were very fortunate as an institution to have the calibre of such dedicated and hard working men in our midst.”
Tshwane metro police spokesperson Isaac Mahamba reminded officers how to act while on the road.
“Officers should always be careful and stop cars in a safe manner,” said Mahamba.
“Despite unplanned events, members should always remember what they are taught in the training college.”
