GALLERY: Tierlantynkies a huge success

On Friday hundreds of customers from all corners of Pretoria converged on the market to support local entrepreneurs.

A local market has become a place where good food, décor and friends meet in the east of Pretoria.

And on Friday hundreds of customers from all corners of Pretoria converged on Tierlantynkies Kuier en Koopfees market to support local entrepreneurs.

A wide range of old traditions and food rituals were among the many attraction on offer at this kuier en koopfees.

Organiser Ronel Horak said the market was a celebration of creativity for the young and old, moms and dads and little ones, collectors, fashionistas, and the connoisseurs.

“Apart from the more than 86 exhibitors selling a variety of goods – jewellery, clothing, gifts, toys and decor items – there are also many food and deli stalls offering an assortment of delicious treats,” she said.

She said patrons enjoyed meals and wine to entertainment by local musicians.

She said the organisers were so grateful for the support.

She said the market this year – held twice a year – showcased even more exclusive products than last year’s and was the perfect excursion for the whole family over the long weekend.

The market, the brainchild of Pretoria friends, Lorette Kunz, Elmien van Zyl and Ronel Coetzer, started eight years ago.

“We had a passion for local products so we decided to organise a craft market to create a pop-up shop for hand-picked entrepreneurs.

Today the Tierlantynkies Kuier en Koopfees is a roaring business and a highlight on Pretoria’s events calendar, drawing close to 100 exhibitors and 10 000 visitors.”

The market, now held twice a year over five days in Zwavelpoort, Pretoria East, has a waiting list of 200 crafters waiting for exhibit.

“We never envisaged the success it would enjoy,” said Kunz.
