Man shot in stomach

Police said a group of armed robbers allegedly broke into a house in Kameeldrift before they shot and wounded a man in the stomach.

A man was shot while trying to save his wife from four intruders that had entered his home, police said on Wednesday.

“Four armed men broke into the house through the kitchen. The woman was in the bath at the time while her husband was asleep. She heard noises and got out of the bath to investigate,” said police spokeswoman Mirna Von Benecke.

The woman came across the armed men, who then took her to a room and tied her up.

“Her husband got woken up by the noise and went to see what was happening. He then found his wife tied up. The armed men shot the man in his stomach and they fled on foot,” Von Benecke said.

No one have been arrested yet.

“Police are investigating a case of house robbery as well as attempted murder. The man, who was shot was rushed to hospital. He is still in hospital,” said Von Benecke.
