A case of murder has been opened against a man who has been implicated in the murder of his parents, who were found dead in the study of their Valhalla home, the police said on Friday. According to the police, the 30-year-old was arrested in Boksburg North along with his friend, who was in possession of an unlicensed firearm and a stolen vehicle.
Police spokesperson, Captain Agnus Huma, said the bodies of the deceased were found lying in the study by their domestic worker in the morning, when she came in to work. Huma said that at around 07:10, the domestic came in to work, but she suspected something was wrong when she rang the buzzer for a long period of time and sent an SMS to her employer, but never received a reply.
Huma said that when the neighbour realised that the worker had been standing outside for a while, he managed to open the gate, as he had access to the property. “When the domestic got into the house, she found everything upside down and when she called out to her employers, there was no answer. She then went into the rooms, until she found the body of the woman lying on the floor of the study. As she went out to inform the neighbour, she found the body of the man in the study as well.”
Huma further said that the couple’s son was not at home when the domestic worker arrived in the morning. Police said there was no sign of forced entry and that several items had been stolen. Ward 66 councillor, Ina Strijdom, said it was with great sadness that she heard of the incident. She said she hoped the police would arrest the criminals who committed the brutal murder and bring them to justice. “My heartfelt condolences go out to the family, friends and neighbours of the couple.”
