The man accused of murdering his parents in Valhalla, Herman Pienaar (Jnr), and his co-accused will appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, police said today.
Pienaar has been accused of murdering his parents, Herman (Snr) and Christine Pienaar in their home recently. According to the police, the accused was arrested in Boksburg after he allegedly disappeared after the incident. His friend was also arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm that was linked to the cartridge of the bullets found at the house. Pienaar was also found in possession of a stolen car that belonged to his mother.
Police spokesperson, Captain Agnus Huma, said the bodies of the deceased were found by the family’s domestic worker in the study in the morning when she reported for duty. She began to suspect that something was wrong when she had to ring the buzzer for a long time, and no one was answering.
When the Pienaars’ neighbour realised that the domestic worker had been standing outside for a long time, he opened the gate, as he had access to the house. “When the domestic worker came into the house, she found everything upside down. When she called out to her employers, there was also no answer. She went through the rooms, eventually finding the husband and wife both dead in the study. Huma added that their son was not at home when the domestic worker arrived in the morning. The couple was laid to rest last Tuesday.
